Third Thursday of Month
Dance Practice

The third Thursday of the month is our Dance Practice.

During this time, we practice the traditional German Figure dances.

We are also learning some folk dances that are less complicated than our figure dances in hopes that everyone in our club can participate in dancing when we host our events in the future.

Practice starts at 7:30 PM.

Location:
Catholic Kolping Society
5826 N. Elston Ave.
Chicago, IL 60646

If you would like to attend, please contact us and someone will answer any questions you may have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be German to join?

Nope, only have an interest in German Traditions and Culture. All are welcome.

How much does it cost?

The current annual dues are $20.

If you plan to participate in the figure dancing, there are some additional costs for club Tracht. This could be discussed in more detail in person as the supplier costs can change without notice to us.

I cannot make the meetings all the time, can I still join?

We understand work and life commitments may not align with our meeting schedules.

You are welcome to join and be as active as you can.

Ideally, we would like you to participate in club activities such as when we host dances or participate in fund raising activities such as working at Maifest and German Day booths.

How do I join?

It is easy.

Come socialize with us 3 times at either an event, before our general business meeting or our dance practice.

Apply for membership, then at the next meeting we vote on your application.

Once approved, you are then able to attend our business meetings.

I have two left feet, can I still join?

Of course!

The traditional dances can be a bit intimidating when you first see them. But do not let that scare you. If you want to learn, our Vorplattler and other dancers will break the steps down and work with you.

We are also learning some less complicated folk dances that will hopefully allow all club members to be able to dance at our upcoming 100th Anniversary Dance in 2024.
